Mulli Mulli Mulli

MULLI UPDATE
Mulli did need crucial ligament surgery, which he got last Friday. He has a cast from thigh to toes and needs to be quite restricted. The healing process will take about 10-12 weeks, so it's going to be a loong road....for the first time in my life ( apart from when was a kid and christmas was looming) I am wishing the time away. I think he knows somehow that he has been repaired and is taking it all in his stride.....he needs alot of attention and constant protection from Bella, Bella just doesn't get it...that Mulli can't run and play. We have a child playpen to put around mulli at night and when he is eating and that has worked well, both to restrict and protect him.
So...if your dog gets a limp and it doesn't seem to be healing get them checked asap....Mulli's Cruciate Ligament had torn to 80% and has been replaced with a prosthetic one...which is great long term...he won't tear it again.
So now it is just time....I figure he will be out and about almost 100% by Spring:) I will have a photo companion again:)

I think knowing how to add favourites to my journal has inspired me to write more....and though, it's not the greatest news this journal.....I'm positive all will be good!
My beautiful Mulli had been walking with a limp and considering he loves to run about so much, I had thought that he just twanged a muscle. After a couple of weeks of Mulli still limping, even though it was slight I decided to take him to the vet. The vet said he had signs of arthritis in his knee, which was very odd for a 4 year old dog. Further investigation revealed that Mulli's arthritis may actually be the result of Cruciate Ligament damage. Now the question is....has the arthritis contributed to the ligament damage?? or did he damage his ligament which can create arthritis fairly quickly apparently in dogs?? All will be revealed this Wednesday when Mulli takes a trip to an orthopaedic specialist. It has been a heart breaking journey over the past few weeks....watching him limp about and not really knowing how much pain he is in. I have learnt fairly much about cruciate ligament damage and Mulli may be getting out of it fairly well from what I have learnt. Apparently Cruciate Ligament damage can leave the dog quite lame until surgery has been performed (prognosis is generally good with surgery)....so luckily on our behalf Mulli does not seem to be lame, so, hopefully a good sign....and the surgery may not be all as bad as initially thought.....however I am summising until we see the specialist. It has been difficult with Miss bella about as Mulli has been a little intolerant (as can be expected) and Bella is finding herself often on the end of a growling Mulli with the odd snap here and there. The road to recovery is looking a little scary as well.....having to keep Mulli safe from Bella's playfulness is going to be a difficult task indeed!!! I am thinking of building a pen so that Mulli can be closed off from Bella until he heals. Whatever the outcome, I am hoping that Mulli can be fixed and he can go on to live his happy active life he loves so much!! Time will tell!!

Well now to my favourite part....adding such wonderful favourites I have had the pleasure to view and now share....
